Everything’s Beautiful — Miles Davis/Robert Glasper
(Columbia/Legacy)

Everything's-Beautiful-Miles-DavisIts release is timed to the Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead, just in time for the 90th anniversary of the jazz legend’s birth. The music sounds like pleasant funk by Robert Glasper with a host of notable guest appearances. The only problem is that Davis, a towering titan of jazz trumpeters, is barely present. Davis sounds like a special guest on his own album. Miles was a prolific artist whose body of work offers a lot to choose from. To hear how comfortable Davis was playing over funk, reggae and other sounds, listeners are advised to check out some of his other albums like You’re Under Arrest and Tutu.
